Dr. Mrs. Nirved Jain - Body Lift Specialist

A Body Lift procedure offers the most dramatic transformation of the mid and lower body. It is truly like re-sculpting of the abdomen, hips, thighs, and buttocks. A body lift incorporates different cosmetic procedures which tighten and tone various parts of the body. These procedures may include: tummy tuck, inner and outer thigh lift, and buttock lift.

During this procedure excess skin is removed from the abdomen, thighs and buttocks, and the abdominal muscles and skin are tightened. A total body lift often incorporates liposuction to achieve balance between the torso and thighs. The surgery is extensive, but the outcome may be gratifying for eligible patients. A tighter and more attractive body from front to back and side to side is often the end result.

A body lift procedure is especially useful for individuals who have hanging skin and fat in the abdominal area, outer thigh and hip excess, back rolls, and ill-defined buttocks. These conditions are generally found with people who’ve lost significant weight due to gastric/intestinal bypass surgery or a dramatic change in eating and exercise habits. Another group of people who could be suggested a body Lift procedure can be people with moderate excess of trunk, buttocks, back and waist.

What are the different types of body lift procedures & on which body areas are they performed?

Basically there are two types of body lift procedure; one is the central body lift (Belt Lipectomy). In this procedure excess skin and fatty tissue is removed circumferentially from the belly, hips, back, buttocks, and outer thighs. Second type of Body lift is called the Lower Body Lift. This type of lift is performed to shape buttocks and thighs by removing excess skin and fat from these areas. When both the types of body lift procedures are combined then it’s called a complete body lift.

How is a body lift actually performed?

Your cosmetic surgeon Dr. Mrs. Nirved Jain first marks down the skin that needs to be excised. After making the necessary incisions, extra skin will be cut off and excised under anesthesia. Liposuction may also be employed to more effectively eliminate extraneous fat, and a surgical drain may be used to remove additional internal fluid that can collect in the body cavities during surgery.

How long will it be before I can resume normal activities and return to work?

Although you will be mobile immediately after the surgery, it is highly advised to take at least four weeks off work for ample recovery time. If your job involves heavy activities or lifting, you may need to take eight or more weeks off, depending on how well you recover.

Be prepared to remain at home, under close supervision of your loved ones for the first few days, for up to six weeks. Normally, patients resume normal activities after four to six weeks and continue exercise after six to eight weeks.
