Dr. Mrs. Nirved Jain - Botox® Specialist

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines, forehead lines, crow’s feet and bunny lines in people 18 to 65 years of age for a short period of time. BOTOX® Cosmetic is the most widely used non surgical procedure which relaxes underlying facial muscles thus temporarily diminishing or eliminating lines and wrinkles.

A BOTOX® Cosmetic is derived from botulinum toxin type A, a bacterium-produced neuromuscular toxin that can be deadly in a pure state. BOTOX® Cosmetic contains a highly diluted form of the toxin and has been proven safe.

How does an BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment work?

Wrinkles are created when nerve cells within the muscles beneath the skin release acetylcholine, which in turn triggers a muscle contraction that creates wrinkles. BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment basically disrupts the release of this chemical, paralyzing the muscle. These wrinkle-busting results are visible within one week and remain for a minimum of three months.

How long is the treatment & is it a very painful one?

The actual Botox treatment for wrinkles usually takes 10 minutes but the entire consultation time may take around 20 to 30 minutes.

There is very little discomfort for the patient during the treatment. Most of the patients have experienced tiny pinching or "tiny bug bites" sensation during the Botox injection process as it is the case with any other injection.

When does Botox start to work, and how long does the effect last?

The results of Botox treatment start to appear in three to ten days. The treated muscles will gradually regain their action over three to five months. When the frown line starts to reappear, a simple repeat treatment is all that is necessary to maintain the desired results.

Are there any risks of taking a BOTOX Cosmetic treatment?

Botox is considered extremely safe, but it does have its share of risks. They include bruising redness or numbness at injection site, headache, nausea, flu-like symptoms, pain & muscle weakness that limits facial movement.
