Lip Augmentation is the procedure which uses synthetic or biological products or surgical restructuring to enhance the lips in many ways.
Non surgical treatments like injectible fillers can enhance the look and feel of your lips for a short while but if you’re looking for a permanent solution, a lip augmentation surgery with implants is the one to be considered of.
How is lip augmentation with implants performed?
Lip augmentation with implants can involve local flap grafts taken from tissue, skin, muscle or fascia (connective tissue) harvested from inside the mouth, or tube-shaped synthetic implants made of Alloderm, Gortex and Softform.
Lip augmentation with implants can take up to two hours to perform on an outpatient basis, usually under local or intravenous sedation anesthesia. Dr. Mrs. Nirved Jain makes an incision along the inside of the lip in the corners of the mouth, inserts the implant and closes the incision with sutures.
Is lip augmentation painful? Is there much bruising?
It takes about a week for most of the swelling to subside, although it will be sensitive to light to medium pressure for about 3 weeks. There is really not too much bruising with most cases.
When will I be able to see the results & how long will they last?
The results are usually immediately visible. For implants and most injectables, your lips will be quite large and swollen and you will see a difference in the swelling as it subsides in the first week postoperatively (or post-injection).
A lip augmentation surgery is designed to last for a lifetime so any patient undergoing this surgical procedure won’t need it to be repeated in future.
Post operation, I feel dissatisfied with lip augmentation surgery, is this procedure reversible?
Lip augmentation with most injectables is temporary; therefore it goes away on its own. Lip augmentation with an implant is reversible by undergoing another surgical procedure.
